Breathwork is incorporating awareness of breath into life. Such awareness can have profound effects on the our physiology and emotional wellbeing.
The body stores our life's history like a vault of information and while our minds often forget experiences over time, the body remembers - the body holds the energy of every moment of experience we ever have.
Breathwork is a method of inviting the body and mind to process such information and to unwind. Like anything, the more frequently one practices awareness of breath, the more it becomes habitual and then, intrinsic.
Over time by incorporating conscious breathing into daily practice, a bridge is built between body and mind; and a deepening of our body mind awareness is cultivated.
Breathwork is a practice which will deepen connection to the body, and open communication between mind and the nervous system, ultimately creating the ability to consciously manipulate one's own nervous system response and in effect, emotional experience to physical pain & stimuli.

Deep & conscious breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which kicks off the natural relaxation response. This is the exact opposite of a stress response. Breathe slower, deeper, and more consciously to reduce anxiety.
Studies show that breathwork truly does work. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy found that breathwork is a useful tool in the treatment of depression and anxiety.
This 2015 study found that participation in breath body mind workshops, a form of guided breathwork and meditation, was associated with “significant improvements in psychological and physical symptoms, quality of life, and C-reactive protein,” a market of inflammation. Practicing regulated breathing practices, the study notes, “may have significant long-lasting benefits for IBD symptoms, anxiety, depression, quality of life, and inflammation.”
Breathing based meditation is also associated with decreased post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in U.S. military veterans, according to this 2014 study.
Songwriter and meditation and breathwork facilitator Bob Sima notes that breathwork practices help to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, improve metal clarity and focus, and elevate mood, among other benefits. “Most of us are in constant, low-grade stress and we tend to breathe shallow and quickly,” Sima says.
During a breathwork session you will create a safe, cozy, comfortable place for yourself where you will be uninterrupted for the duration of your session. In this experience, you will engage a relaxed, conscious continuous connected breath. in a resting/lying down position.
An expansive inhale followed by a relaxed exhale to reclaim the fullness of your breath and open your body to discharge energetic holdings (from daily stress, trauma, undigested emotional experiences and looping thoughts) that consume your energy and limit your capacity to experience clarity, joy, love, and power.
While each journey is unique, people commonly experience breakthroughs related to physical and emotional healing (shifting patterns of chronic anxiety and insomnia), and can experience transcendent states of consciousness.
My job is to coach you through your experience, holding space and reminding you of your commitment to your experience.
Be sure to have a glass of water, headphones (if you are able) and a blanket. Remind anyone who you may be staring space that this is time for you!
WHAT
Breathwork is a form of active meditation (in case traditional meditation has seemed too daunting, too boring, been a struggle, something you don’t quite get or can’t seem to stick with)
WHY
You don't need any experience or skill. You don't need to practice it to get good at it. It's available to everyone, at all times. And just one session can have profound impacts, including:
ALIVENESS. It restores an aliveness that modern culture sucks out of us, that demanding bosses, endless commutes, rude strangers, the news, internet trolls, toxic relationships, disappointments, or whatever it is that drains us.
CLARITY. It helps quiet the mind, take you past your endless stream of thought, beyond your monkey mind that is spiraling & trying to ‘figure it all out’ & illuminates a deeper wisdom, higher guidance, your intuition - whatever you want to call it.
INNER POWER. It connects you to your inner strength, resilience, your capacity for limitless potential & possibility.
RELEASE. It gives you the space to release all the stuff you are holding onto - fear, doubt, worry, anger, anxiety, stress, sadness. A lot of times, we are unaware of how much we are actually carrying.
CREATIVITY. Some of best ideas come from breathwork. It can help bust through blocks and bring you a-ha moments
CONNECTION TO SELF. It can help you feel deeply connected to yourself, to feel so much love, gratitude, forgiveness & acceptance of yourself.
INNER PEACE. This might be my favorite of all. It can lead to a stillness that our go-go-go culture doesn’t allow for. Allowing you to find a sense of calm within the storm that surrounds you.
WHERE
The comfort of your own home!
The sessions are held on zoom (free video call site).
They are 30 minutes or one hour, where we will have time to talk before the breathwork. You can bring any intention, a question, something you want to work with or through.
Then I'll guide you through the breathwork for about 30 minutes, which will be accompanied by an awesome playlist that you will have access to after
And then you will have time after to share your experience.
